Before the ride
Check the driver's or passenger's profile: account age, ratings left by other members, profile photo. A complete, well-rated profile is generally a good sign. Don't hesitate to exchange a few messages before departure to confirm practical details (time, exact location, luggage).
The meeting point
Favour a public, easily identifiable location: train station, metro stop, a well-known car park. Avoid isolated meeting points, especially for a first ride with someone you don't know.
During the ride
Let someone close to you know about your trip (driver, licence plate, expected departure and arrival time). Keep your phone charged and accessible. If you feel unwell or uncomfortable, don't hesitate to ask for a stop.
After the ride
