    Q.  Général

Carpooling has become an increasingly entrenched trend in the habits of the French and, more broadly, Europeans. According to a study published in October 2014 by 30 Millions de Consommateurs, 42% of French people have already used carpooling at least once. Additionally, over half of those surveyed (51%) stated that the sharing economy is the consumption model of the 21st century. On one side, there are cars and drivers, who, according to the French Institute of the Environment, are alone on board 80% of the time. On the other side, there are people searching for an alternative mode of transportation. In the middle, there's a booming sharing economy. Therefore, it's only natural that carpooling has found its place in French, European, and even global society.

    Q.  Why Carpool ?

Environmental protection concerns us all. Whether you're traveling yourself or know someone who is, carpooling stands out as an economical, environmentally-friendly solution for you. According to the Global Carbon Project, 36 billion tonnes of CO2 were emitted into the atmosphere in 2013, marking a 2.1% increase in just one year and a staggering 61% increase since 1990, the reference year for the Kyoto Protocol. China leads significantly ahead of the United States as the largest CO2 emitter, contributing 10 billion tonnes alone! However, according to the NGO Global Footprint Network, the figure is closer to 40 billion tonnes of CO2 emitted in 2013: more than 100 times what volcanoes emit, as explained by astronomer Phil Plait. The car occupancy rate stands at 2 out of 5 according to the press. Given all these facts, carpooling remains a viable solution to reduce traffic congestion and thereby enhance mobility.
